It's Golfing Galore in St. George, Utah
What exactly is the allure to the game of golf? Is it the challenge of getting a little white ball into a strategically placed cup hundreds of yards away?
Is it that pure blissful feeling that overcomes your entire body when you hit the sweet spot, sending the ball into oblivion? Maybe it's the peaceful nature all around you consistently giving you a mental massage?
Or is it because it is that one spot inside the city where you can get away from every single one of life's burdens? For those who love the game, it's not only a combination of all of these, but a whole lot more.
For anyone and everyone who enjoys being out in the relaxing atmosphere which the sport of golf provides, there is an extremely affordable city offering a golfer's paradise. This is a city with great real-estate at an amazing value.
It has a climate that ranges between warm and pretty warm all year long, creating the perfect weather for golfing every single day. Beautiful red rocks surround the city and are integrated into each of its several golf courses. It might be a surprise to learn that a city like this is located in Utah, but the city of St. George has recently become one of the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the United States.
Having a prime location right between Las Vegas, Nevada where the heat can be overwhelming at times, and Salt Lake City, Utah, where the heat can be underwhelming at times, St. George has perfect weather throughout most of the year. This makes it so easy to go play a round of golf on one of the area's ten public courses.
However, if you live in the right place, you can have access to the city's lone private country club, where normal tourists can't enter. Each course is flooded with magnificent geology, with red soil and rock formations due to the presence of iron oxide. Rich green grass contrasts the view of the courses for a stunning sight.
One course stands above the rest. It is the crown jewel of St. George's golf courses and was rated the number one publicly owned course in the state.
It is called Sunbrook Golf Club and features 27 different holes with lakes, waterfalls, and rock walls along the scenic Santa Clara River. Tons of large, brand new, and affordable homes line the outside of the course putting a peaceful day within walking distance.
Not only does St. George offer remarkable golf courses, it also is a great place to raise a family. The economy in St. George has exploded recently with its increasing population.
There is a large Wal-Mart distribution center nearby along with the corporate headquarters for SkyWest Airlines. There is a 420,000-square-foot hospital which holds 196 beds that was built in 2003.
A lot of the growing economy for the area comes from tourism. Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon National Park are nearby as well as several other state parks and recreational areas. Also, the Utah Shakespearean Festival is not located very far away and is put on during the summer and fall each year.
There are four high schools in St. George. Dixie, Pine View, and Snow Canyon High Schools play in 4A state competition, while Deseret Hills High School began play in 2008 and is in 3A state competition. The city is home to Dixie State College of Utah, which is a four-year institution that plays in Division II.
The city also hosts several other special events during the year. If you like to run, whether it be for competition or for fun, the St. George Marathon attracts thousands of people at the beginning of each October. People love it because it is the 13th largest marathon in the country.
If you don't like to run that far, but still like to get out for some exercise, there are other events such as the Mayor's Walk with drawings and prizes. If you just want to go for a hike, nature's finest is only strides away.
Many people are attracted to St. George because of the golfing. Lots of them stay for so much more.
The peaceful city is located in a terrific spot, since it is right along Interstate I-15. It is a booming city on the Arizona border in the southwestern part of the state. It is the perfect place to get away to play a round of golf, and then end up staying to play many more.
